Accelerate Fund III invests in Zamplo to streamline health data collection and analysis

Posted by Accelerate Fund | August 2, 2023

Calgary, AB, August 2, 2023 – Accelerate Fund III today announced its investment in Zamplo, a Calgary-based digital healthcare platform that captures electronic data for researchers and healthcare providers and allows individuals to track, store and share their health data. This investment is part of Zamplo’s initial close of $1.5 million in seed funding with the participation of several angel investors and ScaleGood Fund.

Zamplo is used to remotely monitor Patient Reported Outcome Measures (or PROMs) and collect longitudinal data for any medical condition or therapy. Research participants record and share their health data including survey responses using the Zamplo app. The University Health Network, McMaster University, the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary are already using Zamplo to streamline participant data collection and analysis in areas such as cancer, rare disease, mental health and gastrointestinal diseases.

“Since COVID there’s been a big shift toward decentralized care, while researchers continue to face obstacles to efficiently recruit, set up, collect and analyze patient data,” commented Shaneel Pathak, Co-founder and CEO. “Zamplo’s connected platform can be used for a number of healthcare research and patient support applications while giving individuals full control of their data.”

In addition to supporting research, the Zamplo app allows an individual to track, analyze and share their health data with caregivers, health providers, patient advocates and others of their choosing. The app securely stores and tracks personal health data including symptoms, medications and lab results as well as provides educational resources, community functionality to connect with peers and a clinical trials search.

“The future of health is data-driven and is creating a massive global market opportunity for health platforms that offer a patient-centric approach. Alberta-based Zamplo is uniquely delivering a technology that not only supports an individual’s health journey but supports health researchers and healthcare providers,” commented Yasmine Al-Hussein, Investment Associate, Accelerate Fund III. “We’ve been impressed at Zamplo’s traction in clinical and academic health research projects in Canada and are excited to support the team’s continuing success.”

Zamplo will be using its seed investment to enhance its research platform as well as further expand sales into Canadian health research and patient support programs.
