Accelerate Fund III invests in delivery technology company, KiwiMe, providing commission-free same-day service to retailers

Calgary, AB, April 30, 2020 – Accelerate Fund III today announced its investment into KiwiMe, a rapidly-growing Calgary startup led by five founders who helped develop and scale the technology at SkipTheDishes.

KiwiMe is an online same-day delivery service that partners with local and national retailers to simplify their fulfillment and delivery service. At the core of their offering is a unique logistics technology that shortens trips and reduces costs for retailers while providing same-day delivery.  It integrates easily with popular checkout tools and meets modern consumer expectations of rapid delivery with transparent tracking. KiwiMe technology is paired with fleet management and drivers that ensures consistent, reliable service. The whole offering is delivered to retailers at an affordable, commission-free price.

Omni-channel shopping has accelerated and consumers have come to expect a delivery service that is as simple and effective as the shopping experience itself. Oftentimes, when consumers make purchase choices online, they end up waiting three to five days for delivery, or are not able to see their deliveries in progress. This experience no longer meets consumer expectations. On the flip side, businesses that have tried to run their own delivery systems and fleets have realized the challenges in providing consistent, predictable service.

“At our core, we exist to help communities thrive. We’re doing this by levelling the playing field for local and national retailers to compete in a challenging digital shopping environment,” said Scott Bodnarek, Co-Founder and CEO at KiwiMe. “Our retailers believe that their customer’s shopping experience is core to their brand value and a reflection of their communities, and we’re supporting them in that journey.”

KiwiMe will use proceeds to further develop its technology, and expand its operation and growth teams. The company has grown to 36 people and is rapidly building the technology, world-class talent and business model to compete across Canada and the US.

“We’re excited by KiwiMe’s plan to push into the market at breakneck speed utilizing the unique experience they have in this sector,” Arden Tse, Investment Manager Accelerate Fund. “The KiwiMe founding team has cohesion and the shared experience of rapidly scaling the technology at SkipTheDishes, a prairies hypergowth success story acquired by Just Eat for $200M after just four years in business.”
